Bio-PA construction kit winner at the Toy Award

Bio-PA construction kit winner at the Toy Award

Toy manufacturer fischertechnik wins the Toy Award, one of the most important seals of quality in the industry, with its new product Animal Friends made from castoroil based bio-polyamide.

The fischertechnik Animal Friends construction kit impressed the jury with its sustainable concept in the "Sustainability" category. The building blocks of the construction kit for children aged six and up are made of 60 % renewable raw materials. In recent years, the "Made in Germany" toy manufacturer has already launched a number of construction sets designed to promote the idea of sustainability.

The prestigious Toy Award is presented annually during the International Toy Fair, which this year takes place in digital form. In selecting the winners, the jury of experts was convinced by the sustainable concept of the fischertechnik Animal Friends construction kit - and not without notable reasons: Sammy the spider, Sandy the scorpion, Henry the horse, Larry the lizard and Cleo the cat are the names of the five likeable "inhabitants" of the construction kit (available from March 2022, RRP 54.90 Euro). Children from the age of six can not only enjoy the first animal figures that fischertech-nik is launching on the market. The new colors orange and green, in which the total of 222 parts are designed, also convey a lot of fun during assembly.

However, Animal Friends inspires not only with its fun models, but also with its well-founded sustainability aspect: The plastic components consist of 60 percent renewable raw materials. Castor oil, which is obtained from the seeds of the miracle tree, serves as the basis. This means that there is no competition with food and feedstuffs and no risk of agricultu-ral land needed by humans and animals being taken up. In addition, fischertechnik has also designed the packaging of the components to be sustainable.

In designing the modular system, the developers were able to draw on the expertise of the fischer fixing systems division, which has already made a "Greenline" product line mar-ketable. The corresponding dowels and the assembly mortar also consist of 60 percent renewable raw materials and have the same holding forces as the rest of the product range. The bioplastic used by fischertechnik also ensures the same high quality of the building blocks as is the case with conventional fischertechnik building blocks.

The Toy Award was presented for the 15th time this year. The criteria according to which the jury of experts awards the prizes include play fun, originality, safety, processing and quality. MT
