9th PLA World Congress

The 9th PLA World Congress was again an excellent meeting of PLA experts and attendees from all over the world (from USA to China, Japan and New Zealand, and of course all over Europe), who wanted to learn and duscuss hot topics around PLA and renewable carbon based plastics in general.

The 2 full-day-conference was held on the 2nd and 3rd of June 2026 in Munich, Germany (or online = hybrid event).

All presentations were recorded and are available for a convenient "video-on-demand" streaming.

PLA

PLA is one of the bioplastics with the largest market significance. The versatile bioplastics raw material is made almost completely from renewable resources. It is being used for packaging applications, for fibres in woven and non-woven applications. Even the automotive industry and consumer electronics are already applying PLA. Blending PLA with other bioplastics or other blend-partners as well as mixing it with natural fibres such as flax, hemp or kenaf broadens the range of applications even more.

That‘s why Renewable Carbon Plastics (aka bioplastics MAGAZINE) now organized the PLA World Congress for the ninth time.

Experts from all involved fields shared their knowledge and contributed to a comprehensive overview of today‘s opportunities and challenges and discussed the possibilities, limitations and future prospects of PLA for all kind of applications.
